The Precision F3A Contra Drive is now available. It is the contra-rotating drive we first showed in July, designed by Precision Aero Products and, for the most part, made by us in Australia. A few components are shared with Adverrun, where those parts have already proven themselves.

What it is
- EGODRIFT Eclipse Series 4025EC motor, 550KV, 10 poles, 15 degrees timing.
- 4:1 gear ratio, for propellers from 20" to 24" diameter.
- 635 g as pictured.
- Titanium hardware throughout, soft mounting system and front collet assembly included.
- Japanese EZO bearings throughout.
- Front rubber isolators on 50 x 50 mm centres, the same as the Precision F3A Drive and the PCK, so a firewall drilled for either will take this drive.
Two things we did differently
The motor sits 180 degrees from the usual contra layout. That puts the cooling airflow through the motor the right way, and it runs cooler for it.
A bent main shaft after a prop strike can be changed with the drive still in the model: loosen the two grub screws in the main gear and slide the shaft out. Fitting the new shaft is the reverse. Spare shafts are available from us.
We have kept weight down with good materials and careful design rather than chasing the lightest possible figure at the cost of rigidity and the model's centre of gravity.
Sold separately
Spinner, firewall, rear support ears and propellers. We can make custom firewalls and rear support ears to suit your airframe.
Not sure whether this drive suits your airframe? Send us your model and we will advise.
