Precision Aero Products will build the Glacial V5 in Australia, under licence from its designer, Lassi Nurila, for pilots in Australia and New Zealand.
The Glacial is Lassi's full-composite F3A biplane, developed over several generations from his redesign of the Sensation. He flew a Glacial V3 to the World Championship at Warwick, Queensland, in August 2023, so Australian pilots have already seen the line up close. The V5 is his new design, and it has not been built yet, in Finland or anywhere else. The first ones will be built here.
What the V5 changes
The render above is the V5 as it sits in CAD: the wing and stab structure, fuselage formers, strut mounts and the stab tube are all modelled before anything is cut, so the moulds and the internal parts come off the same file. Three changes stand out. The anhedral is gone from the stabs, which now sit flat. The top and bottom wings are the same panel, fitted inverted for the lower position, so there is one wing mould, one set of spares, and a matched pair by definition. And the canopy is smaller: the top wing now carries the rear of the canopy shape, so the canopy itself stops at the wing rather than fairing over it.

Lassi has given us the V5 CAD files, and we are making our own moulds from them here in Australia. Nothing is copied off a finished model, because there is no finished model yet; the moulds and the internal parts come straight from Lassi's design, and the geometry is his. The first airframes will be supplied in base white or as raw composite, ready for your own finish. A painted option is in the works and we will announce it when it is ready. Full composite throughout, with Falcon medium undercarriage legs, in carbon or white, and Falcon F3A wheel pants, as on the earlier Glacials. Being built locally means no import freight, no customs delay, and support from the people who laid up your airframe.

Drive, servos, spinner, propellers and battery will be sold separately. The firewall can be customised to suit different drive systems: the Adverrun AVR XS contra, our PCK F3A Drive and the Precision F3A Contra all fit.
